The President thoroughly familiarised himself with the operation of a coal strip mine and met with specialists working there. In his conversation with them, he gave special attention to compliance with ecological standards.

Mr Putin presented awards to the miners who produced the two millionth ton of coal from one face. This is the highest achievement in the entire history of the national coal sector.

The President noted that within a short period of time the miners achieved higher labour productivity growth than in Soviet times. He answered the miners’ questions on the pension policy and the provision of housing to miners.
