The greeting telegram read, in part:

“In the years of your presidency, Russian-Belarusian relations have acquired dynamism and a comprehensive scope. Russia will always offer you understanding and extensive support of your practical steps aimed at closer bilateral partnership and effective use of the potential of this partnership for the establishment of an affluent democratic Union State.

“I am certain that the policy of fraternal Russian-Belarusian unity will withstand political and historical tests, and that together we shall meet the ambitious targets of worthy life for the present and future generations of the Russian and Belarusian nations.”
