President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko

President Putin and President Lukashenko expressed satisfaction with the state of Russian-Belarusian economic relations.

President Putin said Belarus had become Russia’s second largest trading partner after Germany. By the end of the year, trade could reach $10 billion. He said that after Belarus adopted the same energy and railway tariffs as Russia, rail traffic in August rose by 103%.

President Putin and President Lukashenko agreed to expand the joint task group drafting a Constitutional Act for the Union of Russia and Belarus.
