Mr Patrushev and Mr Gryzlov reported on the situation at the Dubrovka theatre centre. The President asked whether all the international experience of fighting terrorism was being applied and how coordination with foreign secret services was being arranged.

Mr Putin condemned the increased number of threats made against Chechens in the wake of the terrorist act in Moscow. One of the aims of the terrorists was to sow inter-ethnic strife, the President stressed. “We must do our best to prevent undesirable developments and must not be provoked by criminals,” the President said.
