They praised the recent Russian-US summit outside St Petersburg, and stressed that the agreements it brought confirmed the essential importance of Russian-US partnership for global security.

In connection with his preceding visits to China, India and Kyrgyzstan, Mr Putin highlighted the great importance of detailed and constructive summit discussion of regional and global foreign politics and joint search for the ways to repulse new threats and challenges.

Mr Putin and Mr Bush said that closely coordinated action and the approaches of many countries were the best way to settle available problems by political means.
