Mr Totsky reported to President Putin about the fulfilment of his directives to strengthen security on the North Caucasus state border.
Mr Totsky informed the President that the first instalment of 527.6 million roubles from the additional budget allocation entered the Federal Border Service accounts to better equip the border. At the moment, practically all money was transferred to manufacturers and suppliers of technical facilities and was channelled into buying structures for border guard camps and design work. Some of the products were already shipped to army units in the North Caucasus, while the bulk of supplies was scheduled to be delivered in January-February 2003.
Mr Totsky said that the Defence Ministry, as part of a joint effort between his department and the Defence Ministry to implement the President’s instructions, had formed three road building battalions, which would start building and equipping roads in January.
