January 10, 2009

The congratulatory telegram reads: ”I congratulate you on this landmark, the 80th year anniversary of your birth. A prominent conductor, founder and permanent head of the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir, a man with a wide-ranging personal history, one that is worthy of respect, you have earned credibility and recognition from your colleagues and many students. Your unique team has made a valuable contribution to strengthening the richest traditions of Russian song and has helped revive an entire layer of our culture, that of Russian religious music. Many religious works by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Taneyev and other famous composers were first heard when performed by your choir.

I wish you good health and all the best and I wish your team new creative successes.“
