A ceremony of presenting credentials was held in the Kremlin

January 30, 2003, Moscow

The Ambassadors of Colombia, Singapore, New Zealand, Laos, Thailand and the Vatican presented their credentials to President Vladimir Putin.

Opening the ceremony, the President said Russia’s relations with the countries represented at the event were based on trust and creative cooperation.

Mr Putin wished the diplomats fruitful and constructive work, which would largely influence the progress, success and perspectives of bilateral relations.

In his opinion, the year 2002 was abundant in international events and was difficult for the international community.

Among recent successes Mr Putin noted the progress in building up European and international security, developing extensive trade, economic and cultural cooperation between the countries, including within existing international institutions.

The President said the problems in Iraq, the Middle East and in North Korea still remained unresolved.
