February 2, 2003, Volgograd

After arriving in Volgograd, Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame in the Glory Pantheon on Mamai Hill, as well as flowers at the grave of two-time Hero of the Soviet Union Marshal Vasily Chuikov.

While visiting the Battle of Stalingrad museum-panorama, President Putin talked to city residents and congratulated war veterans on the holiday.

Three veterans of the Battle of Stalingrad, Valentin Varennikov, Semyon Kramarenko and Ivan Slukhai, flew from Moscow to Volgograd with President Putin. They discussed social security for war veterans while enroute to Stalingrad.
