The President’s message of congratulations reads, in particular:

Several generations of scientists and specialists have built the Strela defence enterprise into a multi-purpose research and production centre producing solutions unique in their diversity and complexity. This is the place that has given birth to modern examples of military and civil aviation technology with wide-ranging functional capability and excellent characteristics.

I am sure that your enterprise’s rich research and production potential will continue to help strengthen our country’s defence capability, produce competitive products, spread innovative technology and expand international cooperation”.

Strela, based in Orenburg in the Urals, is a leading enterprise in the manufacture of a number of sea-based anti-ship missiles. As part of an international military-technical cooperation project, Strela is working jointly with India on the production of the BrahMos supersonic cruise anti-ship missile.
