At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated the Mufti and all Muslims on the holiday of sacrifice.

The Mufti told the President about the construction of new mosques in Ingushetia and other Russian regions.

The return of forced migrants from Ingushetia to Chechnya was also discussed.

Earlier the President sent a message of congratulations to Russia’s Muslims on the occasion of Kurban-Bairam. The message said, in part:

“The development of inter-religious dialogue and cooperation, and the preservation of the unique cultural heritage are equally important to representatives of all traditional faiths in Russia.

“I firmly believe that Islam will continue to help strengthen mutual understanding and neighbourly relations among people.”
