Mr Putin and Mr Berlusconi discussed the further development of Russian-Italian relations in the cultural, trade and economic spheres.
During the conversation, which took place just before the EU summit on Iraq, Mr Putin confirmed Russia’s position in favour of a peaceful solution according to Resolution 1441 of the UN Security Council. The results of the UN Security Council meeting on February 14 showed that these possibilities were not exhausted.
