Russia’s President and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China exchanged their viewpoints on the situation in Iraq. They noted with satisfaction that both the official circles and the public at large in many countries supported the continuation of inspections in Iraq aimed at implementing Resolution 1441 of the UN Security Council and ensuring a political and diplomatic solution of the Iraqi problem.
Vladimir Putin and Jiang Zemin underlined the importance of coordination of Russia’s and China’s actions with regard to Iraq and on other major trends in international politics.
