President Vladimir Putin congratulated Rolandas Paksas on his inauguration as President of the Republic of Lithuania.
The two heads of state discussed the prospects of Russian-Lithuanian relations, including the controversial Kaliningrad Region, Russia’s Baltic exclave.
They also exchanged opinions about Afghanistan since Mr Paksas was planning a visit there.
Mr Putin and Mr Paksas agreed to regularly keep in touch to discuss bilateral and international issues.
