Mr Paksas told Mr Putin about his recent trip to Afghanistan. In this connection, the two leaders exchanged opinions on the current situation in the region and prospects for its development, and possible bilateral interaction aimed at bringing stability to the country. They also discussed other current international issues, primarily the Iraqi situation.
