Mr Rumyantsev said that the export earnings of his industry would rise to $3 billion that year. This money would be used to improve nuclear power plant safety, develop new technologies and solve environmental problems. The performance indicators in practically all respects were 5% to 15% higher than in the previous year.
He said a top priority facing the industry now was to complete the construction of the No.3 generating unit at the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant and put it into operation.
