Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao are united in the opinion that whatever changes take place in the world, the deepening of good neighbourly relations, friendship, mutually beneficial co-operation, partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China will remain a priority and strategic tendency for the foreign policies of the two countries

This is stated in the Joint declaration which the leaders of Russia and China signed on completion of talks at the Kremlin.

Vladimir Putin and Hu Jintao comprehensively and seriously discussed the development of bilateral relations over the last decade, their current state and perspectives.

The two parties say that in an extremely brief period of time, border issues between the two countries that were inherited from history have been finally regulated on the basis of principles of fairness and equality, mutual understanding and mutual compliance, with the aims of consolidating order and stability on the Russian-Chinese border and guaranteeing the economic interests of the frontier population of both countries.

Great significance is given to the war on illegal immigration and other types of trans-border crime.

The heads of state also announced their intentions to increase trade between Russia and China. President Vladimir Putin expressed Russia’s interest in entering the Chinese energy market.
