President Vladimir Putin signed federal laws “On the Ratification of the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation” and “On the Ratification of the Agreement on the Legal Status of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation”

The federal laws were passed by the State Duma on April 25 and approved by the Federation Council on May 14, 2003.

The Collective Security Treaty Organisation includes: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The charter establishes the international regional Collective Security Treaty Organisation, identifies its main goals and principles, areas of activity, governing bodies, decision-making procedures, membership criteria, jurisdiction and regulates other aspects of the organisation’s activities.

The agreement regulates the jurisdiction, privileges and immunities of the organisation, its officials and staff, representatives of the member states taking part in the events conducted by the organisation, the principles of labour relations and the social security of the organisation’s officials.
