President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich

June 12, 2003, The Kremlin, Moscow

During the course of the meeting, Mr Putin noted that joint efforts by Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus to set up a common economic space combined nicely with the development of bilateral Russian-Ukrainian cooperation.

The economic ties between Russia and Ukraine, in Mr Putin’s opinion, were developing well. In that context, Mr Putin expressed hope that Mr Yanukovich would be able to keep the favourable mood existing in relations between businesses of the two countries alive.

Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov took part in the meeting.
