Vladimir Putin met the former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori

Vladimir Putin thanked Yoshiro Mori for his assistance in carrying on Russian-Japanese contacts at the government level. The President noted that the last meeting with acting Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in St Petersburg had been very constructive.

During their talk Vladimir Putin and Yoshiro Mori spoke highly of the Russian-Japanese Action Plan signed in January. They discussed trade and economic cooperation, especially several fuel and energy projects as well as the continued work of experts on the peace treaty.

Yoshiro Mori conveyed to the Russian President a message from Junichiro Koizumi inviting him to visit Japan and expressing thanks for the hospitality accorded to the Japanese delegation in St Petersburg during the celebrations of the city’s 300th anniversary.

Vladimir Putin conveyed a reply message for Junichiro Koizumi.
