The problem of the Russian border system has not yet been solved, announced President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Security Council of Russia. Above all, this concerns the Russian-Kazakhstan and the Russian-Mongolian sections of the border

This involves the creation of a modern civilised border, which will stop illegal immigration, trans-border crime, and create conditions for normal border cooperation, trade and tourism, Vladimir Putin stressed.

In April this year the President discussed this problem with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbaev with the heads of border regions. At the meeting, recommendations were developed, and commissions were given to the Government.

The President said guarding the border is one of the most important aspects of ensuring national security in the Siberian federal district.
