President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to the families of those injured and killed during the recent terrorist attack at the Tushino Rock Festival

July 5, 2003

“It was an outrageous and cruel attack; an attack against peaceful civilians. Some of those killed were young people, who were just beginning their adult lives. It was an attempt to arouse panic, suspicion and ethnic intolerance in our society,” President Putin said. “But we also know that traitors and murderers have no future. The whole country, all Russian people are with you today, sympathising with you in this tragic hour,” he added.

The Interior Ministry said 14 people were killed along with the two female terrorists and 34 people were severely wounded in the attack. Overall, 60 people received medical assistance.
