Developing the country’s resources will be treated as a priority for Russia, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the State Council’s Presidium. The meeting, devoted to the subject of Russia’s water resources and their development, took place on board the ship “Kazan” on the Don River

The meeting discussed the draft national programme, “Russia’s water in the twenty first century.”

Revisions could soon be made to financing planned for the water resources sector next year.

The President set out the main directions for work on modernising the country’s water resources sector. The government has been instructed to step up work on a new Water Code and other legislation relating to water resources.
