During their discussion of pressing international issues, Mr Putin and Mr Chirac exchanged opinions on drafting a new UN Security Council resolution on Iraq. They stressed the need to invigorate the role of the UN and its Secretary General in creating necessary conditions for ensuring a relevant political climate for the restoration of Iraq’s full sovereignty.
The conversation took place on the initiative of the French side.
