President Vladimir Putin met with French author Maurice Druon

September 29, 2003, Moscow

The brief meeting took place at the Bolshoi Theater because Maurice Druon, who had arrived in Moscow on that day, was invited there by the organisers of the Bulgarian Culture Days in Russia.

This was their third meeting of the year. Mr Druon first visited President Putin at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence in January. They talked for several hours discussing not only literature, but also history and politics.

A month later, in February, when the Russian leader was on an official visit to France, he visited the writer at his estate outside Bordeaux.

Mr Druon stopped in the Russian capital before leaving for Orenburg, the birthplace of his ancestors, on September 30.
