Mr Putin thanked the Malaysian prime minister for an invitation to attend the 10th summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference as a guest. The President had earlier accepted an invitation to the summit in Malaysia this October.

Mr Putin said in his message that it was very important for Russia, with its considerable Muslim population, to be represented at the authoritative forum of heads of state and governments of the Islamic world.
