President Vladimir Putin and his wife visited the National Museum of Thailand

October 22, 2003, Bangkok

The National Museum of Thailand includes an 18th century palace and a number of mansions, each housing an exposition or a gallery. In particular, Vladimir and Lyudmila Putin saw the famous Sukhothai Stone, the earliest known example of Thai writing, which bears an inscription of the 14th century King Ramkanghaeng. Sukhothai became the first capital of the Thai state in 1238.

Mr Putin made an entry in the museum Visitors’ Book.
