Mr Putin asked Mr Zyazikov about the situation in the republic, in particular the refugee problem.
Mr Zyazikov said that out of 54,000 refugees currently staying in Ingushetia 50,000 were from Chechnya. According to him, a year ago there were 200,000 forced migrants in Ingushetia. The population in tented camps had dropped to 8,000 from 50,000 during the year. He added people returned home as jobs and housing were made available. The rates at which housing compensation was paid were important.
