International terrorism, a challenge faced by many countries today, remains a serious threat for Russia too, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Director of the Federal Security Service Nikolai Patrushev and Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov to discuss the terrorist act that took place in the train running between the towns of Kislovodsk and Mineralniye Vody

The President called this act of terrorism an attempt to destabilise the situation in the country on the eve of parliamentary elections but declared that the citizens of Russia would not allow this to happen.

Mr Putin said that the government and the regional authorities would provide all necessary assistance to the victims and that the special services would make every effort to solve this crime.
