Speaking at a meeting with members of the government, President Vladimir Putin said that whatever the results of the parliamentary elections that will determine who sits in the next State Duma, what is most important is that these elections mark yet another step towards building a stronger democracy in Russia

The President warned political parties and organisations that consider themselves victors in these elections against letting euphoria get the better of them, reminding them that they now carry a lot of responsibility.

Mr. Putin said that those who were defeated in these elections should analyse the results of their political activities, but he added that the ideas and the personnel resources that they can offer the country’s leaders, government and society in the aim of finding positive solutions to the tasks Russia faces will not go unused.
