These forces should play an important part in counter-terrorist activities, which are of particular significance today both for the international community as a whole and for the CIS countries.

Priorities for cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation include working together on anti-aircraft defence, establishing a common geo-information system and holding joint training exercises.

The President also announced that Russia was introducing free tuition and training for military personnel from countries participating in the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, and that Russia would sell these countries Russian arms at internal prices.
