President Vladimir Putin met with German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer

Mr Fischer arrived in Moscow from Kaliningrad, where he had taken part in the ceremony opening a consulate general. Mr Putin described the event as a concrete step in expanding cooperation between the two countries.

As seen by Mr Putin, cooperation between the two countries is developing in a positive way. Trade is running at a very high level – 24 billion euros. Germany is also a leading investor in the Russian economy: its investments total over 10 billion euros already.
