President Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolences to Ljupco Jordanovski, Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and Acting President of Macedonia, in connection with the tragic death of Boris Trajkovski, Macedonia's President

The message said:

“The Russian people received the tragic news of the death of Boris Trajkovski, President of Macedonia, with deep sorrow and sincere sympathy for the Macedonian people.

“Boris Trajkovski’s personal contribution to the development and strengthening of Russian-Macedonian relations is priceless. A real breakthrough was achieved in our bilateral cooperation. He did a great deal to deepen the traditional friendly ties between our peoples.

“I had the honour of meeting Boris Trajkovski more than once and I will always have the fondest memories of him and respect for him.

In view of the tragedy that led to the death of Boris Trajkovski and those accompanying him, I would like you to give my condolences to the people of Macedonia and to the family and friends of the victims.”
