The Chinese President warmly congratulated Mr Putin on his landslide victory in the presidential election.

Both sides confirmed their commitment to consistent dynamic efforts to promote multi-faceted Russian-Chinese cooperation.

They expressed their satisfaction with the schedule of intensive bilateral contacts at all levels planned for the current year, including the key event of the year – the official visit of President Putin to the People’s Republic of China.

Asked to share his opinion on the status of Taiwan, President Putin confirmed Russia’s stand in support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of China, and against Taiwan’s independence in any form.

The conversation took place on China’s initiative.
