Mr Bush congratulated Mr Putin on his impressive success in the presidential election and stressed that his landslide victory was evidence of the Russian people’s appreciation of his performance as the country’s leader.
The US President also congratulated the Russian people on the results of the presidential election.
Both Presidents emphasised the strategic importance of Russian-American relations and expressed readiness to work to strengthen them in the future.
They also discussed plans for future bilateral contacts at different levels, including the highest.
