The Greek Prime Minister warmly congratulated Mr Putin on his victory in the presidential election. President Putin, in turn, congratulated Mr Karamanlis on his appointment as Prime Minister.
Mr Putin and Mr Karamanlis discussed pressing issues of bilateral cooperation in different spheres. They confirmed their intention to develop multi-faceted cooperation in trade, the economy and politics.
Mr Putin wished the Greek Government success in organising and holding the Olympic Games due to take place in Athens in 2004.
