The message said, in part:

“Our meetings and a regular exchange of messages are evidence of positive dynamics in Russian-Serbian cooperation, which create good conditions for the expansion of trade, economic and cultural ties between Russia, Serbia and Montenegro. You greatly contributed to this progress.

“The dramatic developments in Kosovo and Metohija that have hit the brotherly Serbian people have not left Russians indifferent or unaffected. I am sure that the Government you head will continue to work in the interests of a long-term and just solution to the Kosovo issue. In these efforts you can always rely on Russia’s support and assistance.”

Russia’s Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu, who was in Belgrade, delivered the message to Mr Kostunica.
