Dmitry Medvedev held talks with President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov in the Kremlin

They discussed joint strategic projects in the energy sector: the construction of the Belene nuclear power plant, the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline and the South Stream gas pipeline.

The parties also discussed the implications of the recent gas crisis and ways to prevent such problems in the future.

Dmitry Medvedev referred to the Year of Bulgaria in Russia, that is to be opened today in Moscow, as a landmark event. He praised the Year of Russia in Bulgaria which was held in 2008.

Following the negotiations a package of documents was signed in the presence of the heads of state.

After their talks Dmitry Medvedev and Georgi Parvanov answered journalists' questions.
