Vladimir Putin’s inauguration as President of Russia is now taking place in the Kremlin

May 7, 2004

The Russian State Flag, the Presidential Standard, the Presidential Emblem and the special copy of the Constitution on which the elected President swears an oath to the people of Russia have been carried into the St. Andrew Hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace.

The President’s motorcar entered the Kremlin through the Spassky Gates. The Kremlin commandant Major-General Khlebnikov reported to the President at the main entrance to the Grand Kremlin Palace.

To the sound of the presidential fanfares, Vladimir Putin proceeded up the palace stairs and through the St. George, St. Alexander and St. Andrew Halls, past the Kremlin Regiment Guards and the guests of honour.
