Speaking at the ceremony inaugurating him as President of Russia, Vladimir Putin declared that, as before, he considers that ”the help and backing of Russia’s citizens constitute the primary and most reliable support for the President’s work.“

Mr Putin promised that, as during his previous term in office, he would work actively, openly and honestly and would do all within his power to justify the hopes millions of people have placed in him.

Mr Putin thanked all those who placed such great trust in him by electing him to the post of head of state and all those who, through their work, made their contribution to the results achieved by the country as a whole.

The main objective over the coming four years is to transform the potential that has been built up into new development energy and use it to bring about a principally new quality of life for people, Mr Putin stressed.
