President Vladimir Putin sent a message to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan

May 14, 2004

The message from President Putin was delivered by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Razov.

The message said, in part:

“I think it is important to note the recently dynamic development of Russian-Turkish relations. That applies both to the political, trade and economic and other spheres of cooperation of mutual interest. I am confident that it is necessary to consolidate this positive trend through efforts on both sides.

“The diversification of our ties, and investing them with new content create favourable prerequisites for broader bilateral contacts, including at the summit level.”

Mr Putin expressed confidence that the progress in Russian-Turkish cooperation on all fronts would help to elevate the relations to a level of multi-faceted constructive partnership that would meet the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries.
