The Agreement, signed on December 20, 2000, is aimed at providing the organizational and legal foundations for mutually beneficial Russian-Belgian cooperation in specific areas of activity connected with the exploration and use of outer space and the use of space technologies for peaceful purposes. The agreement is comprehensive and contains provisions that regulate the legal protection of rocket and space goods and technologies as well as security-related goods and technologies, protection of intellectual property rights, the procedure for resolving disputes between the parties as well as issues of liability and damage compensation. The Agreement fully meets the interests of the Russian Federation and its implementation will help to broaden Russian-Belgian relations in the exploration and peaceful use of outer space.
