The creation of the Single Economic Space uniting Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan will not stop these four countries from also being a part of global and general European processes

May 24, 2004

The steps being taken aim at making each of the four countries’ economies more competitive on world markets, President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following a summit of the four heads of state in Yalta.

The President said there are several approaches to resolving problems in relations with the World Trade Organisation: countries can settle questions individually with the WTO and then coordinate their positions with their partners in regional organisations, or the regional organisation can develop common principles upon which to join the WTO.
