Mr Putin congratulated the team on their victory in the Russian national soccer championship and wished them success in the UEFA Cup.
Meeting with the Chechen leadership, the President noted the need to concentrate more attention on building new sports facilities and restoring old ones when planning Grozny’s reconstruction. This includes small sports areas where children can train on a daily basis, Mr Putin said.
Acting President of Chechnya Sergei Abramov told the President that the Terek team had dedicated their victory in the Russian national championship to late Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov. This victorious spirit helped them win the championship, Mr Abramov said.
Mr Putin proposed giving Terek’s best player the Chechen sabre that was a gift to him from Akhmat Kadyrov to keep for a time.
