The leaders of the organisation’s member states discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the Greater Middle East initiative proposed by the United States. They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, cooperation prospects in the fight against international terrorism and drug trafficking and joint work in the military-technical sector.

Also high on the agenda at the meeting was the Collective Security Treaty Organisation’s cooperation with other international organisations, in particular the United Nations and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
