De-bureaucratization of the economy remains the main goal of the state

July 1, 2004

At a Kremlin meeting with business community representatives, Vladimir Putin once again emphasized the necessity of reduction of the state's regulating role in the economic life. Entrepreneurs, like no one else, feel all negative consequences of the state's excessive presence in the economic sphere, he said.

At the same time the President drew the entrepreneurs' attention to urgent social problems addressing the issues of housing construction and education.

Vladimir Putin paid special attention to raising the quality of higher and high vocational education, pointing out the urgent necessity to overcome as soon as possible the large gap between the outputs of the higher education system and the real demands of the economy .

In the President's opinion, close cooperation between the state and the business will allow to solve these problems.
