The Russian President took part in a funeral mass at the Viennese Cathedral of St. Stefan.
At the end of the service, Mr Putin talked with the head of the Austrian Catholic church, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn, who conducted the funeral service. Cardinal Schoenborn especially thanked Mr Putin for personally attending the funeral.
Before leaving the cathedral, the Russian leader expressed his condolences to President Klestil’s widow, Margot Klestil-Loeffler.
