Russia's move to paying value-added tax at destination countries in exporting oil and gas is an important step in the creation of the Common Economic Space

August 18, 2004

Despite the initial losses to the Russian budget, this decision will ultimately not damage the Russian economy, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma.

In the mid-term and long-term perspective, levying of indirect taxes at destination countries should lead to an increase in mutual trade, the development of transport flows, and strengthening of cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere between partner countries in the Common Economic Space.
