President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Mr Yudhoyono on his official appointment as the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
During the conversation, both sides expressed their certainty that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Indonesia would receive further and multilateral development.
The two Presidents also discussed prospects for bilateral contacts at various levels.
