Active attraction of foreign investment is a key condition for the growth of the Russian economy. On this basis, it is possible to modernise industry and the agrarian sector, and develop the transport infrastructure.
Today, a favourable investment climate is gradually being created in Russia, and the legislative base in this area is becoming consolidated. At the same time, it is important to stimulate the flow of capital investment not just in traditionally attractive spheres of the fuel and energy complex, but in construction, new technologies and telecommunications, and consumer services.
I expect that this conference that has been organised on the initiative of the media group Interfax and the Royal London Institute of international relations will make a real contribution to solving these important tasks.
